Hi Sulis,
Wow, your program sounds very ambitious! I'm envious of you having a partner and in-laws who speak your target
language. That is huge motivation and many opportunities to practice, though I imagine it could be challenging as
well if some of the relatives are not as patient or kind of teachers as you would like.

I'm using both Pimsleur and Assimil for my Mandarin studies and like them both. Will be interested to follow your
progress as French is next on my language hit list. Bonne chance!

With the right incentives, like TAC and your boyfriend, I'm sure you can advance to b2, even beyond with some effort. Keep yourself motivated and practice everyday and I'm sure you will do great. But remember that the journey is just as important as your goal. Keep that in mind and you can survive all those moments when you feel like you are wasting your time. Also, French is somewhat easy for English speakers. I'm glad I found your learning log, I love to read about what other people are facing when studying the same as me. :)

Where did you get that idea from???????? :D :D

C'est vrai qu'il y beaucoup de mots d'origine française en anglais, mais clairement le portugais est bien plus proche du français.... Ce sont deux langues romanes, tandis que l'anglais est une langue Germanique qui n'a rien à voir avec le français !!!

So... Here we are !!! TAC French!! OK guys!!! I wrote to ellasevia that I could be an observer/corrector for french team.... How about that?? Anybody interested??

By the way, good luck with this language !! So hard !! But I will follow-up with you struggling against (?) this language !!!

Bon courage ! A quand le premier post en français???

Your plan sounds great, Sulis. Especially as, even if you don't get in a great deal of studying every day, you still
want to get some exposure once a day. If you ever need any encouragement, language exchange, suggestions for
books/music or anything, let me know. It is difficult at first, but one day it will just click and you'll be off and away
:)
