They opened in December, if memory serves. The selection is rather limited at the moment,
compared to the UK one for example. There's no kindle books, there's no wishlist function
etc. But I can understand that it takes them a while to build up their offering, which
hopefully will see an expansion over the year. It's a really good time to be learning
italian. :)

This is great. I was looking a little while back for books and tried to type in
amazon.it but I think I got diverted to the French site. I'm gonna have a good look now.

What are some names of some modern popular Italian writers (equivalent to John Grisham, Dan Brown, etc.)? In other words, light, entertaining reading rather than heavy literature (e.g. Umberto Eco). I like Giorgio Faletti. Any other writers you would recommend?

You could try Andrea Camilleri who writes crime novels. They have been turned into tv movies that can be watched on the RAI website.
