By the way, it's worth mentioning that "壮语" has now become a spoken language since
1950 something. Now, very very few people in China would be able to write the text of
"壮语". My ex girl friend speaks 壮语 as her mother tongue but she doesn't even know a
word of 壮语

so it means most people are illiterate? :(
or that they simply use non-standart Zhuang?
Anyway I have noticed how scarce is Zhuang on the Internet.
There is wikipedia version, but without many contributions.

talking about the dialects : Dai people of China use as many as 3 different writing systems for their languages: Tai Dam, Tai Nua and Tai Lue.

There are many groups of people that most people have not heard about in China and South East Asia.

once you get past the basic characters the rest is easier.

Let's hope so, I'm impatienly waiting to break this magic line. But I think it can take some time, especially that it's not the language I spent the most time for.

Personally, I think a section for Chinese, Japanese and also Korean together will
be great and necessary.

Greetings,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for help, and I am also aware my cry for
help can be seen with some despise, but I am desperate and am willing to give it a go.

What I am looking for is someone to translate me a rather short text into Mandarin. I
know this isn't a forum policy nor very welcoming among language learners, and I feel I
should at least explain the situation.

I had to fly home after discovering my mother was at the hospital with a very serious
disease, therefore, I couldn't take the final mandarin exam at my university. After
explaining and discussing the situation with my mentor, she told me she had agreed to
give me a new opportunity to do my final exam. Although, I had to contact the teacher
myself before the start of the new academic year, and this is where the problem lies.
Talking with her face-to-face is already a very daunting task because she speaks very
little Portuguese, and she does not answer any Portuguese e-mails because she cannot
express herself clearly, nor understand the situation in detail for that matter.

So, what I'm asking here is for someone to translate an English text basically saying,
we need to schedule a new date due to my situation. It's a short text.

If anyone is kind enough to help, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you very much in advance, and again, I am sorry for asking this.

João.

@Joao

You're looking at something like this: 我因家里出现了一点状况而急需赶回家。是否 能让我考试改期?如蒙慨
允,不胜感激。

I posted this elsewhere but wanted to try here too. Does anyone know where I can find an input method or simply
a font for Mac that allows the writing of both pinyin and hanzi together (pinyin on top or below the characters)?
Please say yes
:)

Nope, I have Word for Mac and it doesn't have a font that does this (as far as I know and I think I tried them all).
