Hi everybody,
As the title suggests, this is my first Language Lo (+g) .
Im not really sure if I understood the TAC correctly, but I joined the team for Japanese!!
Current level:
I went to a very slow moving course for Japanese at my university and this semester we finished the Genki I book.
I also finished Remembering the Kanji a few weeks ago, so I´m able to write and know the meaning of 2000 Kanji, but I still cannot read them or understand compound words :(
Goals:
The japanese partner university of my university has a japanese learning programm. Application date is the 31th May. Until then I want to improve my japanese significantly, especially in comparison to my classmates, so my teacher will give me a good review.
Also I want to finish Genki II before the start of the next semester.
This concludes my first post. I will probably have to edit it later on since im not very good at writing. I hope you do not mind :)

Good luck with your goals. I used the Genki books and there is a lot of useful material in the second volume including an introduction to honorific and humble language and forms such as the passive and causative which are essential for understanding real Japanese. As a consequence I really felt like my level had improved suddenly, just through working through the final four chapters of the textbook.
Do you have a plan of attack now for improving your reading?

Hi g-bod thx for your post and PM
As for the reading what im doing right now is to put the vocabulary I allready know from Genki I in my new Anki deck with their Kanji writing only.
Im doing the repetitions Japanese -> English so my reading ability should improve pretty quickly hopefully.
Also im not putting in single words, but sentences.
Unfortunatly i have exams coming up so I dont have as much time as I would like to study Japanese or update this thread.

The last few days I only did the repetitions from my Anki deck.
But today I decided to change my current study method.
In order to learn a lot of new vocabulary and the Kanji readings of the words i allready know I downloaded a public Anki deck wich is supposed to have the 2000 most common words in it.
On the front of each card is an image and the sentence with the new word in hiragana and an audio file with the entire sentence on it
for now I´m going to do at least 50 new cards every day untill exams are over.

Today i did 50 new Cards and 63 repetitions
I also watched Lincoln and London Hearts from last week
Somebody at D-addicts puts London Hearts with Japanese Subs up almost every week which is pretty cool

What is London Hearts exactly? I've noticed it makes a regular appearance on D-Addicts but have never watched it. Is it useful?
