Come speaker, tuttavia, non è poi così male. Per farlo lavorare come speaker: (a) Togliete il segno di spunta a Translate (quadratino a sinistra) (b) Selezionate Speak: Italian (c) Selezionate Speed: Slower Scrivete la frase che desiderate sentire. Cliccate il largo bottone blu "Speak Slower Italian" - A parer mio con la velocità impostata a Normal/Slow la sillabazione è troppo rapida. Con la velocità impostata a Slower ogni singola parola viene pronunciata a ritmo accettabile, ma l'intervallo di tempo tra le parole sembrerebbe, in certi casi, troppo corto. Non ho trovato un rimedio per questo. - Se la frase è troppo lunga l'intonazione generale è scadente perchè, naturalmente, la macchina non ne capisce il significato. ---------- THE SERIOUS SIDE As a translator, it doesn't seem that good. As a speaker though it's not so bad. To have it working as a speaker: (a) Uncheck Translate (leftmost checkbox) (b) Select Speak: Italian (c) Select Speed: Slower Write the sentence you want to hear. Click the wide blue button "Speak Slower Italian" - In my opinion, with the speed set to Normal/Slow the spelling is too fast. With the speed set to Lower, every single word get pronounced at a acceptable rate, but the time gap between the words would seem, in some circumstances, too narrow. Couldn't find any workaround for that. - If the sentence is too long the overall intonation is poor because, of course, the machine does not understand the meaning of it. (1) Hear the difference between "é" (closed "e") and "è" (open "e") "perché, cioè" (2) Hear the difference between "sii buono" (congiuntivo esorativo), "sei buono" (indicativo) e "stai buono" (imperativo) "sii buono, sei buono, stai buono!" (3) Sentences for travellers: How much is the ticket? "Quanto costa il biglietto?" Do you sell Canon cameras? "Vendete macchine fotografiche Canon?", oppure "Vendete camere Canon?" Do you have newspapers and magazines in English? "Avete giornali e riviste in inglese?" May I have a coffee? "Posso avere un caffè?", oppure "Vorrei un caffè" I'd like another cup of coffee "Vorrei un altro caffè" Could we have a table for two? "Possiamo avere una tavola per due?" Do you have a table for two? "Avete una tavola per due?" Have you got anything cheaper? "Avete qualcosa di più economico?" Can you bring me another bottle of mineral water? "Potete portarmi un'altra bottiglia d'acqua minerale?" May I have the menu? "Posso avere il menù?" "Bill, please" "Il conto, per favore" Is there a student discount? I will take this "Prendo questo" ---------- In tutte le seguenti prove Speed era impostata a Slower In all the following tests the Speed setting was Slower IL LATO DIVERTENTE (1) Frase Italiana "come vedi parlo più correttamente di te!" (Select Italian) La stessa frase con accento anglosassone molto forte "cohmeh vehdi pahrloh pihuh cohrrehttahmehnteh dih teh!" (Select English) (2) Frase "Why don't you think I am a good speaker?" udita e trascritta da italiani che non sanno nulla dell'Inglese. Pronunciata infine in Italiano "uai dont iu tinc ai em a gud spicher?" (Select Italian) (3) Frase in latino "Quousque tandem, Catilina, abutère patientia nostra?" (Select Italian) In Italiano non suona bene "Va be', quousque...pazienza nostra...ma, Catilina, non pensi che ora potremmo andare a pranzo?" La solennità dell'enunciato sarebbe resa bene dal tedesco, se l'accento non fosse talmente forte. (4) Tentativo di distanziare le parole, mantenendo sempre Speed: Slower Aggiungere spazi non serve perché la macchina li ignora. Allora, dato che "h" è una vocale muta, ho provato ad inserire gruppi di h supponendo che la macchina li interpretasse come intervalli silenziosi. "Ciao! hhh come hhh stai? Io hhh sto hhh bene" (Select Italian) Provate voi stessi. ----------- THE FUN SIDE (1) Italian sentence: "come vedi parlo più correttamente di te!" (Select Italian) The same sentence with a very strong Anglo-Saxon accent "cohmeh vehdi pahrloh pihuh cohrrehttahmehnteh dih teh!" (Select English) (2) Sentence "Why don't you think I am a good speaker?" heard and transcribed by Italian people who know nothing about English. Eventually spelt in Italian "uai dont iu tinc ai em a gud spicher?" (Select Italian) (3) Latin sentence "Quousque tandem, Catilina, abutère patientia nostra?" (Select Italian) In Italian, it doesn't sound well "OK, quousque...pazienza nostra...but, Catilina, don't you think we could go dinner now?". The utterance solemnity would be well rendered by the German language, if the accent wasn't such strong. (4) Attempt to spread out the time gap between words, always letting speed set to Lower Adding spaces does not help cause the machine ignore them. So, since "h" is a vowel having no sound, I tried to insert chunks of "h"s supposing that the machine interpreted them as silent gaps. "Ciao! hhh come hhh stai? Io hhh sto hhh bene" (Select Italian) Try yourself. IL LATO ESILARANTE Credo che questo lato sarà avvertito soprattutto dai nativi. Ho cercato di mandare fuori strada l'abbronzato giovanotto in vari modi, prima con "precipitevolissimevolmente". Niente da fare. Poi con "Sopra la panca la capra campa sotto la panca la capra crèpa" Ancora niente. Allora ho provato con "Trentatré trentini entràrono a Trénto tutti e trentatré trottàndo" Macché. Il tipo è tosto. Mi è quindi venuta in mente la filastrocca[1] in musica[2] "Oh che bel castello" e ho provato con i primi due versi "Oh che bel castello marcondirondirondello, oh che bel castello marcondirondirondà" Il marcondirondirondello gli dà un po' noia, ma ancora ce la fa. Se si cambia marcondirondirondello in marcondirondirondero le cose gli peggiorano. Verso la fine del marcondirondirondero ha un attimo d'incertezza: "Oh che bel castello marcondirondir..gurgle..ondero oh che bel castello marcondirondirondà..pant" Ma mica poi tanta. Lascio a voi altri tentativi, fatemi sapere. Provate anche con Speed: Fastest Però, con questa faccenda del marcondiro, si scopre anche che ha l'ERRE MOSCIA! Non sapevo che gli Italiani avessero l'erre moscia! E che dìa quelle occhiate a destra e a sinistra per tenere d'occhio la macchina in divieto di sosta? Beato lui che sta al mare. Couldn't find any workaround for that. I think I have found one. Use spaces for a normal time gap between words. Add one hyphen [1] to a space if you want a greater time gap [2]. This is useful for dialogue simulation. 	22atropos Grazie infinitamente ! Questa e' una risorsa incredibile e tanto utile ! Si puo' usare un dizionario per pronunciare le parole, ma non funziona cosi' bene come questo sito. E finalmente posso sentire i suoni delle due "e" diverse. Il suo consiglio di usare "perche" e "cioe" funziona perfettamente. Grazie ancora. 1 person has voted this message useful
