Well, I've made my decision. Count me in for Dutch! Currently the only materials I have is the 2003 edition of Teach Yourself Dutch (book and audio CDs). I'd greatly appreciate suggestions on other materials, particularly of the kind available online.

Edit: leafing through the TY Dutch book I can see that it doesn't offer a lot of detail regarding grammar. Any grammar references online, however basic the grammar points covered, would be greatly appreciated!

Have you thought about Assimil's Dutch with ease?

Although there are several languages I would love to try with this, I think I'm going to have to be counted in for French. My final school exam in the subject will be around the end of this challenge, so it only makes sense. Although I won't be twittering, sorry, unless strongly persuaded otherwise. I just want to avoid falling into another internet time sink!

I was avoiding twitter like the plague for the longest time for the same reason, and it
seems like others participating have the same concern, too. When I finally joined I
decided not to tell any of my friends about my account and swore to only follow
accounts that tweet in one of my target languages (Khatzumoto of AJATT, whose language-
related insights and Japanese media recommendations induced me to join Twitter, is the
only one I follow who tweets in English). Thus, twitter has become far from a time
sink, a great study tool! I have lots of sentences (all natural and colloquial) from
there in my Anki decks, and it's also great when someone I'm following in Japanese or
German posts a link to an interesting article or video in their language. I've
discovered new bands, kept up with local trends, learned new slang, etc. I was never
able to use Facebook in a way that was conducive to language study, as much as I tried,
but the setup of Twitter is much better for it, and also doesn't have all those
distractions that waste your time (like albums, games, etc. It's just pure text). Just
a thought :)

So far, 20 people have signed up using Twitter. You can see the list (and later their
scores) at http://6wc.learnlangs.com/ .

This will be even larger than the Dutch challenge! I can't wait!

Regarding Dutch: thank you MichaelM204351 for the Dutch with ease suggestion. I am stocking up on coursebooks but am now on the lookout for phrasebooks/phraselists, especially of the kind available online. Any suggestion to this effect would be greatly appreciated.

Also: could anyone give me the link to the previous Dutch challenge thread?
