Well I got Rikaisama working. I didn't realize I had to uninstall Rikaichan to use it. The audio function is simply awesome. I've only been using it a few minutes heh. I think it's basically the same thing as Rikaichan with awesome audio and better integration with Anki? Man I am loving this audio. My flashcard app has a terrific text to speech engine that comes free with it but this is better - I think it's authentic? I wanna add it to my decks lol.

Hey, glad you found the audio function awesome! It's great for aiding pronunciation and
helping with the readings, and you can press "F" as many times as you like :) If you have an open deck it can import directly to Anki, and the same goes if you save to a text file. I'm still trying to figure out how to import the audio as well, because I know that you can, based on what I read at the Reviewing the kanji forum. Fell back to my basic anti-social nature yesterday and spent all day studying Japanese (my ideal of a perfect
day lol). Most of it was spent doing spaced repetition decks I've been ignoring that I made for class. I got through my vocab one and obviously I wanna stay on top of it. It took a while since for the 1st time I was actually writing out Japanese including kanji on my whiteboard. I haven't used the white board in a while and it's simply awesome. I love writing with it and my hand doesn't hurt after a long time like say writing with pencil does a bit. The deck I'm using is a little dated in that I haven't added the vocab for the last chapter yet so I need to do that today. Today however is the speech contest for my town (Tucson) which my teacher is a really big part of. So that's most of the day gone right there but obviously it'll be Japanese related. My listening skills are improving - at least I think so. I was at tutoring today and there's two native Japanese speakers there who speak to each other and I seemed to understand a lot more of what they said (without straining myself) than previously. Also, one of the more advanced students spent some time talking to me switching between English/Japanese and I had no problems at all understanding her. I remember when I first met her how impossible it was for me to understand her. Huge difference between then and now (that was almost 3 months ago).
Just watching an anime right now on Crunchyroll - Phi Brain. I'm enjoying it without subs. I am not understanding everything or even a majority probably but the plot looks simple and I'm having fun picking out the Japanese and grammar I'm familiar with. So I'm pleased with that. I'm exhausted today too. I'd love to get a full night's sleep tonight, we'll see. I got the textbook for next year's Japanese (already) and I'm looking forward to reading it. We'll see how it goes but there's a good chance I'll get through most of the book before next fall. I like Yookoso and the book for this year has worked out really well for me. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

This is gonna be a short update. The end of the semester is coming up so this weekend I am mostly doing
homework we got stuck with a ton of assignments at the end of the semester for some reason I don't know why. I've finished off the packet which is due next Thursday. I did it all at once although it's supposed to be done over the course of a few weeks. I also did one of the reading assignments which are basically translation assignments and adding furigana to some kanji. What's left is a kanji quiz and the 'last reading' and the extra credit reading. I hope to get them done tomorrow. It's nice to have stuff done. We're just about done with the book, just one more lesson and then he just does review for the final. He's a lot more relaxed it seems now that the semester is ending. I already have the book for next year. I dunno what's best for my Japanese in terms of studying over the summer. Maybe just doing the book but also maybe doing kanji vocab or working off another book. I have Rosetta stone so I think I'll give that a try. Started in on Harry Potter vocab again. I had been attempting to test both Japanese and English before
giving myself a correct response but that was taking a while and I'm realizing that it's stupid as passive is more than ok for this vocabulary for now. Interestingly some words have come up in class. So I'm going to keep the Harry Potter deck passive and the class deck active per se. I was thinking of trying out the kanji deathmatch option on on of my ipad apps - I have two ipads and two styluses. I'll see if anyone in my class wants to play. I cant really recommend rosetta stone, unless you have no other options. If you have it though, it can be fun to mess around with. You could do some reading and listening? or try some subs 2 srs so you can learn what is being said in the animes you like. Also I am sure their are some good books outs there that are at your level. Anyways, you are making good progress, just do something you enjoy with Japanese :) 1 person has voted this message useful |
