I've finished all the 90 lessons of Pimsleur Brazilian Portuguese after 3 months.
But my opinion is that I've not really learned many words.

Does anyone know another audio course for Brazilian Portuguese? It must offer the
translations in English (or Dutch :D) as well, because I don't want to use a workbook or
something, because I want to put it on my mp3-player and listen to it wherever I am.

(Much) repetition is also desired.

Thanks!

I'm afraid I have no suggestions for follow-on materials to Pimsleur, but I've looked at your blog, and just wanted to say "muito obrigado" for the work you've done on it. It should be a big help to other learners of Portuguese.

You can use Colloquial 2 Portuguese of Brazil or Ultimate Portuguese Beginner-
Intermediate from Living Language that is much better.

If you can get by in French, Assimil has a program for Brazilian Portuguese, but its only available in French base.

PG18, you might take a look at the DLI Portuguese materials; there's the "basic course" with lots of audio, as well as the "Headstart" course, similarly with audio.

They have PDF files to go with them, and so they're not all audio like Pimsleur is, but on the other hand, they have the advantage of being more systematic in terms of explaining grammar. And best of all, you can download them for free at:

I heard a good things about Assimil , and if you want a course with English base , try brazilianportuguesepod : this is series about every day conversations and also has a lot of Brazilian Portuguese Idioms, I'm using Englishpod, doing some of Italianpod and I love 'em!
