This isn't the most ringing endorsement of German novels. Though I could say the same about Spanish movies,
which I do enjoy quite a bit.

I didn't mean to imply that I do not enjoy them. It is just that German is my weakest language, among the ones that I consider that I speak, and reading a novel demands so much effort and focus, that I easily fall asleep. My grandmother used to read a huge book on Roman emperors in bed, that used to put her to sleep within minutes too. :-)
