I have begun studying Mandarin with a podcast. I have done 7 lesssons so far and have learned 132 words. I began just about a week ago. So far there are 16 lessons available and there will be 4 new lessons a month.

Wow, that's good, 132 words in a week!
By the way, what is a podcast?
I heard it's a recorded radiobroadcast?
And you download it? In what format, mp3?
And is that something you have to pay for?
Anyway, good luck and keep it up! :)

Most podcasts are free. They're more or less mp3 files of entire Internet broadcast shows. It makes it easier to just download the whole show and listen to it on your I"pod".

I'm frequently tempted to start working through Pimsleur Mandarin again--Chinese coworkers really light up when you take an interest in their language--but I can never keep up my motivation. The podcast you mention sounds interesting though, and I too would love to hear more about it!
Since you're studying both Japanese and Mandarin, you might check out http://jp.chinesepod.com for some cross-language goodness.

Most any mp3 player will work for these too: you don't need to invest in an ipod when a cheapo player (or Winamp or Media Player) will do the trick.
