I just found this thread after someone posted about this software on the fi3m forum.
I can confirm that the install instructions are absolutely completely and totally
overwhelming for a normal person. I have no idea what an apache server or a php client is
and it all sounds far too complicated, all other programmes I can just download and use,
my aim is to learn languages not software programming! I don't even really understand if
this is an online thing or a programme that you can download and use offline (which
sounds much more useful)? I don't doubt it sounds fantastic, but I would doubt my ability
to use it if I can't even understand what it is. And I'm an intelligent human being -
just computers are not my thing, other than using them in a normal manner.
Will there be a more straightforward version of this in the pipeline?

You don't need to know it. Just follow the steps described here
Don't worry it's easy.

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using Apache (Method 1) vs EasyPhp (Method 2)? Is there any reason why I should choose one over the other?

If you want to test it without any installation - I put one online.
http://www.trabulo.net16.net
login = test
password = test
This is for testing only - do not work on it on the long go because anybody reading this post will be able to go there deleting your texts words or put all your learning words in well known category or what else.
Do not send your mp3 - keep them on your computer and listen to them from there. This is a free hosting so it will work until transfer data limit.
If you want the same with a private login and password to have the same site for you only - please send me a MP here.

After much trepidation and hesitation because the install looked intimidating, I went ahead and tried it. It installed perfectly and worked first time. Nice job!
Now for my first time user question. How do I set it up for Spanish. I read through previous posts in this thread and other people talked about using it with Spanish, but I don't see how to do that.
Specifically, what am I supposed to put for dictionary URL's and Google translate URL. I'm not familiar with how to figure out what those URLs should be.
Thanks.

@fiziwig - Gary
I do not put anything as dictionaries or translator url.
What I do is open lwt in one tab and other sites like dictionaries - google translate etc in other tabs of my browser. Most of the time I will use LWT offline with a local dictionaries on my computer.
If you prefer to put the dictionaries url in lwt - I suggest you copy the french link and change fr to es or something similar - I do not see those url right now.
I hope this is helpfull

Thank you. Yes, changing "fr" to "es" worked fine.
So far I'm thrilled with this application! I am going through "Juan Salvador Gaviota" (Johnathan Livingston Seagull) with audio downloaded from http://albalearning.com/

The easiest are IMHO
EasyPHP for Win
MAMP for Mac
The Linux geeks normally are geeky enough to set up a web server.
