The only details I have ever been able to get about Ziad Fazah are from an interview that was written up in, I believe, the San Francisco Chronicle and put on the net some years ago, and a Brazilian site that gave several pages worth of biography. Does anyone by any chance have any further (sources of) information? Above all, does anyone have any idea how one might try to contact him?

For those of you who know nothing about him,
Ziad Fazah is probably the greatest living polyglot, for he is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for knowing 56 languages.

The thing that I find literally incredible about him --i.e., the thing that I cannot believe becuase it transcends my understanding--is this: he says that he learned almost all of his languages between the ages of 14 and 17! That is a rate of one every three weeks! Even granting him the most fantastic of linguistic gifts, how on earth can this be true? And if it is true, why would he have stopped? I believe he has only learned two other languages since then. He has stated that he could learn all the languages in the entire world if he set his mind to it, but he prefers to design an international language that will further world peace.

Doing a search on google on Ziad Fazah brings up his name on some postings on internet forums, one is for a some kind of technical help with software which has an email on it dated year 2000, also another in a christian forum, and another in Portuguese where his name is listed as teaching French, Spanish, and English

Perhaps someone can try to contact him via the email address so he can come to this forum and enlighten us all, hopefully the email is still current. Even though Mezzofanti can't come here no matter how hard we try, we certainly could give Ziad Fazah a try :)

A Ziad Fazah looking for help with X on FreeBSD (2003-12-07)

Dear Sir,

My name is Ziad Fazah. Indeed, after having installed Freebsd version
5.1 on my pc, I found out that after having got at startx command, there
was something written as an error: (EE) Unable to locate /open config file
(EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile log file: /var/log/XFree86
Fatal server error:
no screens found.

Thus, Iam asking you amiably: how can I solve this problem? Besides, Iam
running on Redhat version 9.0. Please, tell me what to do in order to
work out this matter. In anyway, I shall be awaiting your response as
soon as possible, and thanks a lot for everything.
                                                                                     Sincerely,
                                                                                         Ziad   Fazah

A Ziad Fazah looking for help with X on FreeBSD again (2004-02-23)

Dear Sir,

My name is Ziad Fazah. Indeed, after having configured adequately
Freebsd version 5.1 on my pc, I noticed that there was a mistake on the
non-detection of my Samsung Syncmaster monitor through the XF86Config.
Thus, I do ask you, whether Freebsd supports Samsung Syncmaster monitor
or not? Because according to my settings, there was a mistake concerning

my monitor in /etc/X11/XF86Config... It turns out that the question was
seeking an identifier for my monitor through the XF86Config. Thus, I
answered:Samsung, but the answer was wrong , therefore, I couldn't
proceed. So please, tell me what to do,referring to the identifier that
I do need to write for the monitor, in order to have all settings
correct in XF86Config. In anyway, I shall be awaiting your response as
soon as possible, and thanks a lot for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Ziad Fazah

By the way, how do you pronounce his name?

Is it "Zee-AHD Fa-ZAH" or is the accent on the first syllable???

Thanks.
