TAC 2014 starts at post 64 on page 8
TAC 2015 starts at post 91 on page 12

Another try don’t laugh at me but I realise that I need a place where I can get motivated and where I can documentary my process.

Swedish (Current level: absolute beginner (0)): I don’t know I always stopped learning after 8 or 10 weeks. I always try it again and again and so I remember faster than last time, but I didn’t finish any book ever. Today I went to a bookstore and saw some Swedish books. I thought: “I want to read them “.
I think this is goal I can reach in January 2012. Written Swedish is easier to understand than spoken and near to my mother language.
So I’ll start my third try with Assimil (Schwedisch ohne Mühe) and a Textbook (Lehrbuch der schwedischen Sprache), because I can’t learn a language with no or very limited grammar.
From time to time I hear klartext (Swedish news with “easy” Swedish http://sverigesradio.se/sida/default.aspx?programID=493) .
So I’ll start with Assimil in the first Chapter, I think I will be faster through the beginning lessons, because I done them several times before.
In my textbook I’m in chapter 3 from 9 and the moment I’m struggling with the plurals of Swedish nouns. I do a list of nouns I learned and now I’m trying to find the plurals.
I done two entries in lang-8 in Swedish, I think there will come more next time.
Maybe I’ll do a conversation course next year or find someone to speak, but first I want to have some good basics.
Fascinating word is “ett båtfolk” for me. Båtfolk are the people who own a boot. I never thought there is an own noun for it.

English (Current level: pre-intermediate, approx B1): English is a never ending story. I learned it at school, at courses in university or try it on my own. My big problem is everyday English. I can discuss with you about IT or math topics, but don’t ask me for the next train station, I’ll don’t know the vocabulary to answer. To write a text like this is more complicated for me than to read a specialist book.
Since April I do an English course we discuss about newspaper articles so I have the chance to talk a little bit in English, only 2 hours a week but better than nothing.
At home I will finish Tell me more and my grammar software.
I love it to read so I’ll read my “normal” books also in English.

Great thing that you want to learn Swedish, I wish you the best of luck and I will try to
support you so that this time you will not fail. The same thing happened with me and
German, it is a beautiful language but I never managed to get passed the basics and now I
am close to 0 knowledge since I am studying Swedish at an advanced level. A good thing to
do is to learn words in a context, like this very obscure word, båtfolk can be learned in
the sentence Båtfolk brukar veta bäst (Boat people usually know best) so it will stick
better in your head.

Thanks for your support.
I think specifically strange words are easier to remember, because you look twice of the word.
Two of my wisdom theeth are removed on wednesday, so I didn't do so much this week. They were still in the jaw bone, so I was a little bit scared, but now is every thing fine.

Swedish
I started with Assimil and I'm in lesson three.

English
I worked two hours with tell me more this week.
I installed learning with text on my computer and looking for recources.
Today I read a text from http://www.englishonline.org.cn/en/listen-watch another website I found is http://storynory.com/
I start to read Watching the English in English is really hard for me.

I'm learning Swedish and I don't know much about the Assimil Courses. Does the Swedish course have German as well as Swedish or just Swedish? I don't speak much German...

Many thanks :o) Michelle x

Every second page is in German as well as every comment. I think you have to speak a good German to learn a language with the German course.

You can see some example pages here:    http://assimilwelt.com/app/download/4164148402/Schwedisch+le rnen+-+Lektion+1-3.pdf

They want that you assimilate the language. I think it's useful to built up your vocabulary, but not to learn grammar.

So I'm still learning.

I learn a half hour a day. It works for me more than to say do this number of lessons at a day or week.

I finished lesson 11 of assimil today.
Sometimes I done some pages of my other textbooks, I struggle with the audio here, Assimil is to slow (in the beginning) at these are too fast.

I forgot to write something about my English.

I worked a lot with Anki. Every unknown word or phrases who comes a long put I into anki.

I think my English is on a difficult level now.

I know the basic vocabulary and I will learn many word in my further studies, so this is not the problem.

I know a lot of grammar rules and I can use them if I do the excercises in the grammarbooks/workbooks, but most excercises are clozes or other standard excercises.
My problem is if I have to write a text on my own, I get problems with word orders and make a lot of grammar mistakes.

I wrote two exams last week, so I didn't do a lot language things in september.

Now, I'm ill, so I'm sitting with heachache and a running nose in front of my pc and waiting for a better day.

I clean/tide (wich word is the right one?) my anki, I done the repetitions for the september (I don't do them during the exam time) and delate the decks from the last semester for university.
