The quote below says just about everything you need to know to answer the question. The only thing I'll add -
you are only allowed to count one person per language.

What if you had 14 boyfriends...would it be possible then? |
|
|
Sure! Are you volunteering? I guess I'd better pick from the members of this forum if I want to get started...

I'm too busy building my own harem to belong to yours. But thanks for your kind consideration. |

New competition: whose "language harem" features the widest-ranging variety of native speakers? ;) I can see
this getting dangerous... |
|
|
Does it have to be a contemporary harem, or can we count old loves? As a married woman, the here-and-now
approach to 14 boyfriends might meet a tad of opposition from my otherwise understanding husband. |

Of course we can count old loves! Hmm, this could actually get fun. I'm afraid my harem is rather sparsely
populated at this point in life – I've only got English and German so far. |

I don't understand what a "language harem" is precisely:
Do you mean foreign girl-friends, boy-friends, spouses and ex-spouses?

I think you are correct, Fasulye. My personal interpretation is that they have to be someone who is a native speaker
of a language you are trying, or were trying, to learn. But I can't speak for the young ladies in the quote.

Thanks for explaining! I have never had such an relationship with a foreign boy-friend or husband, so my answer is "zero".

In my language harem - I'm forming an orderly queue of...one.

Since my foreign boyfriend/Norwegian boyfriend ratio is 10-1, I voted for more than 10,spanning Spain,France, Italy, Lebanon, Marocco and Poland. Mind you, I am then including boyfriends I have known in the non biblical sense.
I once choked om my drink, when a guy I met at a party said he was impressed at my range of old lovers from all over the world, when all I had done was to refer to my old boyfriends.
Oops. I didn't realize until after I voted that you were only supposed to count one per language, then I am down to 5 :-)

Zero. I've never had a girlfriend who spoke a foreign language...or English, for that matter. :(

I find the whole concept very strange. I can't imagine a harem of Finnish men.
