My post was deleted. I'd love to know why. Perhaps I just touched a sacred cow.
Interesting.

I'm curious, too. I received a bunch of emails saying this thread had been added to today and there's nothing here.

Very simple. If you bash people, particularly members of this forum, your posts will be deleted.

Wow. I read the offending posts (at least some of them - I do not know if there were more posts later which were worse) but it did not even ocurr to me that they might be considered bashing. They were quoting the member concerned, and gave an evaluation of a rather bold claim of speaking with native fluency in a particular dialect.

Were there worse posts added after 2 o clock?

The deleted posts were about another member of this forum, not ZF. Anyway, if anyone wants to discuss this further, please do it by PM.

I can't understand how doubting in one's brags is offending.

Mine was one of the deleted posts. My mistake was probably in using a quote that included that name of the person being bashed (and I do believe that this person was being bashed in the original post). My response was to point out the difference in native vs. conversational claim - certainly no offence was intended on my part to anybody.

But I understand why it was deleted, and I'm fine with it.

R.

hrhenry, I don't believe your post was deleted for being offensive. Rather, it was deleted along with the other posts to keep the continuity of the thread. (I wasn't the moderator who deleted the original posts so I am surmising based on what I read.)

Again, let's please drop the subject here. If there is anything further to discuss, let's do it privately.
