As a general statement, I'm impressed by people prove that they are able to keep a conversation going in several languages of different language families to a level sufficiently above asking for directions or ordering a beer.
In conversations, a heptalingual friend of mine seemingly effortlessly switches between any combination of her setup from some four language families. My consolation is that I formally write better than her in at least three languages (but so far, just one family there ...) One person who has been featured in other threads here, Erik Gunnemark, was not only capable of talking and reading in lots of languages, but also had taught quite a few of them.
