Spanish: lesson 5; German: lesson 10. One of my colleagues was bothered by my constant mumbling in strange languages, so I lent him my CDs. He is now mumbling in Japanese and is looking happy.

I can't believe that a Czech, who speaks all those complex consonants glued together, will fear a simple and fragile "r"!! :-))

Well, I have no idea how to do it, I have tried many methods and it just does not work. Speaking of complex Czech consonants, we use them mainly to scare off foreigners :). It is quite common not to pronounce some of them correctly, for example the infamous "ř". I cannot pronounce it in the prescribed way, and, for example, our late president Václav Havel couldn't either. But in Spanish it seem to be an important part of the language's charm.

Though most Portuguese speakers do not use the same sound, we have a softer version, adults usually can produce it.

However, it must be said that even our softer version is one of the last sounds a child produces and there are some few adults who are unable to do it.

How do we learn it? I don't remember, but my son is learning it by the imitation of the sound of helicopters. Later on, it will be machine guns, though I'm a peace lover ...

:))) I will try the helicopters :)))

I am terribly busy these days. I am falling behind my schedule. Lesson 6 in Spanish, lesson 13 in German + a short relaxed lesson with a native German speaker. I share these lessons with a colleague (there were 3 lessons in December) and Pimsleur already gives me a noticeable advantage over him.

This is a great dictionary! Thanks Flarioca!
