Hi, I'm interested in buying a 1970s era linguaphone, but there's one thing I'm
wondering. What is the difference between the 6 cassette, 10 cassette and 14 cassette
version?
Also, if anyone is interested, I've got a 1970's era 14 cassette french linguaphone
found in the workshop, absolute mint condition, if anyone has a 1970's era linguaphone
arabic they would like to trade, you can contact me by PMing me or sending an email to
danielapplepie@hotmail.com
But yeah, what is the difference in course length, the course itself etc between the
three variations of 1970's era linguaphone I know of.
Thanks, Daniel

I'm not sure, but I think that for some languages the oral exercises weren't always included, and that could explain
the different number of cassettes.

There is not alot of difference in the 70s-90s era Linguaphone courses despite the different numbers of cassette - the initial 1970s revision of the linguaphone courses came with 4 cassettes. These didn't contain FSI like drills. In the very late 70s/early 80s FSI style drills were added with an extra book and the tape lengths were shortened to make them more reliable and look 'bigger' so that they came in 9 cassettes + 1 for instruction.
Added to this Linguaphone did a second level course for French, Spanish, German and English and sold them in big briefcases with the intial course. These came with 4 more cassettes (and usually light blue coloured books).
Not all language courses produced by linguaphone in the 70s-90s era (which, in my opinion, is by far the best era of Liguaphone) are the full 9 cassettes (e.g. Thai, Swedish, Latin American Spanish) and these are the ones that come with 6 cassettes.
