	Some doubts from Nikolaishvili's lesson 13. "რა სპეციალობის?" (Which medical specialty) I don't get why this form has a final -ს ბავშვთა ექიმი Is this also a reminiscent of a former genitive? The book gives the following table chart: "სახ. ბავშვნი მოთ. ბავშვთა მიც. ბავშვთა შოდ. ბავშვნო в грузинском языке есть форма мн. числа , которая употребляется сравнительно редко. она образуется суффиксами ნ , თ(ა). თა - указывает и на надеж и на число. твор. и обст. падежи форм не образуют." 1 person has voted this message useful

	Still having trouble understanding dialogues at Hewitt's. How easy and effective would it be if there was a side-by-side translation! I'm having trouble with the expression თუ არა specially regarding word order in subordinate clauses. What does this sentence mean? დედა შემოვიდა თუ არა, ტანსაცმელი გაიხადა, დაწვა და იმ წუთში დაიძინა. Now as I read, Hewitt explains that in colloquial Georgian the word order in relative clauses gets rather clumsy: გუშინ რო მასთან ერთად მოხვედი, ის გოგო ჩემი ქალიშვილია. yesterday that/which she-with together you-came, that girl my daughter-is. 	I've resumed reviewing Beginner's Georgian, went up to lesson 8, it's easier when you don't do exercises. I need to learn the optative for good, at least regular forms, so that I can try to write an assignment again. უეჭველად რამე უნდა დავწერო. How much would a house of this sort cost to a man? - I don't know exactly - I can't tell you, but it would be a lot. Look, over here I found some bottles which can be easily opened. Let's first try Stalin's favorite Khvanchkara (if his favorite wasn't Kinjmarauli). - If I'm not wrong, it's of a too dark color. It's drinkable though, if there're dregs inside? Let's try another one first, if there're dregs at the bottom, then this Khvanchkara may be better to drink. - What's this? Is anybody coming? What have ywe done by coming here? Stay quiet here , and I will go up and find out what's happening. It is better this way. It would be bad if someone skeaned in upon us here in the wine cellar. ======= I have a hard time figuring out idiomatic meanings out of the sentences, even if I had the translation of most of the words. 	ნიკოლაიშვილის წიგნი საუკეთესოა. დიალოგები საინტერესოა და ყოველი გადათარგმნილია. რუსული თარგმანი კარგია და გუგლში ადვილად რურულთან ინგლისურამდე შემიძლია ვთარგმნო. ჰიუტში ყველაფერს ყოველთვის არ შემიძლია მესმის, ამიტომ ნელა ვსწავლობ. 1 person has voted this message useful

	I'm still taking it slowly with Hewitt's grammar while I try to make sense out of the dialogues at Nikolaishvili's, since I can't follow the Russian explanations. It's been working so far, though I'm as always longing for more user-friendly resources. That reminds me I should be doing my reviewing, but then there's still so much at Hewitt's book worth looking. 1 person has voted this message useful
