One more good news about Tschenkéli's book: some lessons are just a few pages long, allowing me to find my way through the German in a not so tiresome way. Today I could read the whole lesson 02, and tomorrow I'll do the exercises. Then follows another short lesson, so I think I will start moving faster than expected.
On the other hand, that leaves me with even less enthusiasm for A Continuing Course. I'm taking my time, reading two or three pages a day, paying attention to only the most important expressions and ignoring the rest. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Done with the second lesson of Tschenkéli's book. I know that things are easier with nouns, and they might get way harder with verbs. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the way the exercises are presented and I believe they will allow me to retain a lot as well as understand grammar.
Today the exercises were similar to the ones at lesson 1, but with syncope. So, I decided to just read the exercises in Georgian. This saved me from German. After reading the previous glossary, I only had to look one word up: ვაჭრის. I've browsed volume II and realized it also has a Chrestomathie. The stories seem to be fairly more adequate than the selections at both of Aronson's books (the Resding Grammar and ACC). They are shorter, they have both a TRANSLATION and a glossary and they deal with more interesting themes, like a fable, while at Aronson's all we got was about history, Georgian is hard indeed, but lacks of didactics can make it even worse. So, I'm glad ბატონი Tschenkéli left us a rewarding work that hopefully will help me achieve my goals for Georgian. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Lesson 3 is over, now to the exercises.
Reading the German is getting easier each day. Two beautiful bird with one stone =D On a sidenote, zecchino and I are going to do Georgian for TAC 2013. Anyone would like to join us?! Things are apparently going well with Georgian. Tschenkéli's book still feels like a restart. I've done the exercises for lesson 3. I'm rather reading the exercises in Georgian than trying to translate from German to Georgian. Maybe in time I'll try to translate from German, I'll just wait for the sentences to get more complicated.
At ACC, I finished Vazha Pshavela, moving on to Ilia Chavchavadze. It seems much easier to read thn the previous ones. It is he penultimate author in prose, then we have poetry which is harder but tends to be shorter. Then grammar and we're done with this book, ready for contemporary texts! 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Today I wrote a review of Contemporary Georgian Fiction to Amazon =D
Language-wise, I read Lesson4 from Tschenkéli's book and started Chavchavadzde's prose section. This is my last week before a long vacation. I don't know how my Georgian studies will go during holidays. I need an online dictionary and a computer for studying Georgian, just the tablet won't do, and considering I will be busy with several family activities, I may not study Georgian during Xmas and New YEar's Eve extended holidays and then again stop it until about January 15th. I only hope I can catch up later. Haven't been making great progress in the past weeks. I need to force myself to write something Georgian again. 1 person has voted this message useful |
