Lehrbuch der Georgischen Sprache 9:

ჩვენ ქართულის გარდა გერმანული წიგნებიც გვაქვს.
I didn't get this sentence. Does it mean "Besides Georgian, we also have German books"?

Which form is correct for "about what?"
რას შესახებ? or რაზე შესახე?

============================
Mission accomplished. I could finish today's lesson from book2. Having read the dialogue yesterday calmly at home helped enormously. I don't think it's "cheating", since I don't have the audio. But if I did have the audio, I would prefer to listen to it before.

When I read the dialogue previously yesterday, I browsed through the Georgian text and didn't bother checking for unknown words either in glossary or in translation. I think I could pick quite a bit, which means I'm learning but I'm still reviewing. Let's see how this will evolve, after all, i've been through less than 1/3 of the lessons. I expect the upcoming lessons to be fairly more challenging.

So, მანქანა demands the "personal" verb for 'to have'. Which other objects besides personal vehicles are an exception?

I have not really noticed this peculiarity before. Having thought about it, I can only come up with one more example at the moment: სკოლაში კარგი ნიშნები მყავს - I have good grades at school.

Quote:
Why does this sentence have both ასევე and the particle -ც in მოტოციკლიც?

You can both use or not use -ც with ასევე.

Quote:
ეს წინადადება ვერ გავიგე. I don't understand the sentence.
Now there is a sentence with ვერ, negation of capability. What's the difference between გავიგე and მესმის?

It actually means: I couldn't understand the sentence.
გავიგე is past simple tense of მესმის (I think it's what they call aorist in Georgian?). There's no difference in meaning, just different tense.

Quote:

გყავთ მეგობარი გოგო? Do you have a girlfriend?
I think I have asked this before, but is it actually the word used for a girl you're on a relationship with? And my answer would be დიახ, მეგობარი გოგო მყავს. :P

Tixhiidon is right. We use შეყვარებული for 'girlfriend/boyfriend'. And it doesn't sound as dramatic and serious as 'lover'. 'მეგობარი გოგო' might be used very rarely from English influence, but usually it denotes just a friend.

Quote:
გიორგი მე-12 საქართველოს უკანასკნელი მეფე იქო. George 12th was the last king of Georgia.
Is it what it says?

Yeah, it just should be იყო instead of იქო. Which part do you not understand?

Quote:
1) უკვე მზად ხარ? Are you finished?
Why the -დ ? When I check translate.ge, the adjective for 'ready' is მზა.

მზა is adjective and means 'ready made' not 'ready', such as: მზა საჭმელი - ready made meal.
მზად is technically adverb but is used as 'ready' .
მზადმყოფი adj. - a person who is ready.

It's formed in a same way as e.g.:
ავი adj. - evil, wicked.
ავად adv. - ill, sick adj.
ავადმყოფი adj. - person who is ill.

So some adverbs can have corresponding meaning in English as an adjective.

Quote:
So, აღარ means 'not anymore' and you don't need to add არა at the sentence, right?

Right.

Quote:
ვიცნობ is the verb for 'to be acquainted with'?
A different verb from ვისი, right?

Yes that's what it means.
You mean ვიცი? Yes it's different.

Quote:
4) შენი ქალიშვილი უკვე გაიზარდა? Is your daughter an adult?

I wouldn't understand the meaning of this question personally. It literally means: 'Did you daughter grow up already?'

The word for an adult is 'ზრდასრული'.

Murdoc, it's so good of you to take the time to help us with our Georgian. I'm really
grateful. One question, though, since შესახებ takes the genitive, shouldn't it be რის
შესახებ?

I got the meaning of the sentence about Giorgi 12nd. It's just that for a second I thought it would mean "Giorgi is the 12nd last king of Georgia", and it wouldn't make sense to count backwards. Then I realized the 12nd was part of his title.

Regarding this sentence here:

I didn't get this sentence. Does it mean "Besides Georgian, we also have German books"?

Why is ქართულის in the genitive? Is it required by postposition (or adverb) გარდა?

I'm trying to figure out if there's a case when the particle -ც has to be added to a noun that ends in -ს, that is, in the genitive or accusative. In this case, would we have to use an extended form in -ისა and only then add the -ც? Sorry but I can't think of an example.

book2

იცი, სად არის მისი გასაღები? Do you know where his key is?
Should I always use a comma after "იცი"? That is, when introducing a subordinate clause?

ბავშვებო, სად არის თქვენი მამიკო? Children, where is your father?
I assume this -კო is an afectuous ending/diminutive?

Btw, why is თქვენ used with children? Maybe a calque from German?
