Yeah he's really good. He speaks with the flow and ease of someone who is quite advanced...and yet he is apparently relatively new to foreign languages. Impressive. And what a collection of exotics he has amassed- Swahili, Arabic, Persian...Funny that I've yet to hear him speak English!

Looking forward to hearing more from this young polyglot.

Enjoy this New York Times piece on Tim. And yes, I did notice that it says that I run this
forum...now that's what I call an instant promotion on the site! ;p

Here is the direct link to the video too...

Tim is amazing! And the talk in the article about "inborn talent" is doing him a
discredit. The "secret" to his success, as far as I can tell, is the fact that he
dedicates up to 15 hours a day (!) to his obsession - no language gene, no revolutionary
method (unless he's leaving something out), just the hours, consistency, and passion. To
me, the example he sets is really inspiring.

EDIT: In the video he can be seen visiting HTLAL, so he may already be lurking among us
here. Hi, Tim! :D

Thanks a lot for posting this specific link! This is the first press article in which the online polyglot community is presented, because previous press articles were always featuring a speacial polyglot, or polyglots in general in combination with Michael Erard's book on the hyperpolylgots.

What a joke, to call Richard the owner of the HTLAL - language forum!!! Journalists should do some better research before they make such a statement.

There's an account called Polyglotpal, created more than a year ago, last visit on March
10th, linking to his Youtube account, and with the name Timothy. So barring some
carefully orchestrated subterfuge, I'd say you're intuition's right. Hi Tim :)

The article in THE NEW YORK TIMES mentioned by Torbyrne with the title "Adventures of a Teenage Polyglot" featuring Tim is also recommendable to read because it has also nine postitve on-topic comments and there will be a vivid discussion about the online polyglot community and polyglots in general. Susanna Zaraysky and I posted a comment to the article just to mention us two polyglots.
