Tonight is a horrible night (well today is a bad day) but then again that is probably my... well not my own fault, but I don't know. My brain is having a total functionality switch-off after a long conference on chemical engineering (smart materials) (which was killing me for many reasons) and a French class which went very well but suddenly 2/3rds of the way through my brain decided to go boom. It somehow did not impair my French but it did impair my ability to think reasonably.
I don't even know what I need at this point except tea???? and hopefully some sleep. I will do Assimil lesson 50 just because maybe if I keep up my regularities I won't descend into some horrible self-loathing because of that either and then I'll be fine after a good night's sleep tomorrow.

This update is split into a few parts.

The politics is banned on this forum, isn't it?
If I answer this, people will say I discuss politics on the forum.

They aré generally more lenient with what we write in our own logs, particularly as long as we voice
opinions about politicians, and not about ethnic or religious groups.

It's not even about politics, it's about the general feel I got from reading articles in the press about how the Russians reacted to the deception.
What's more, it's just a French exercise to read, I don't actually want it to be discussed. If you tell me anything about it just make sure it's about the French :)

I have started the active wave of Assimil. What strikes me is that I don't translate as figuratively as Assimil, which means my translations are frequently a slightly more literal interpretation of a text (and I don't care, translating здравствуйте as hello and then translating добрый день the same way is confusing - at least translate one as good day, which is kind of a way better way of expressing what that phrase actually means). I have no problems translating from English to Russian, though. I doubt the reverse would be problematic at lesson 2 of the active wave either.

Putin's re-election.
Mark, this is my log. Unfortunately, I decide what goes in here. I am posting that article for corrections to my French. If you want to discuss Russian politics with me, you can do so in private. You can write what you want, of course, and disagree, but I'm not entering the discussion with you here. I am perfectly capable of deciding this for myself no matter how much you disagree with my view on Russian politics.

I apologise. Why is Putin's reelection a deception?
