I've seen that link, but I still find it confusing. Guess I just need to find a native to
practice with.

Now it depends on you alone, then :)

@Mapk thank you very much for the explanation, it's been tremendously clarifying for me. Ah, the right sentence at the right place at the right moment...

@Random review, long time no-see :) Sorry, no Greek. However, I know of an equivalent for Spanish, German and English at the University of Iowa website.

Long time indeed! Thanks for that: Spanish and German are the 2 languages I'm trying
seriously to learn and even the English guide will hopefully prove useful sometime soon
as I did a Celta late last year and am trying to find my first job as an EFL teacher.

Edit: sorry for briefly hijacking your log, tarvos.

Welcome to the club then! :)
Anyway, let me tell you... when I did my CELTA we spent a great deal of our training in classes where you'd never dream of using such tools --or get into such 'depths' for that matter-- and our theoretical training in that field never got beyond listing the IPA symbols coupled with example words (total time maybe 2 hours, tops). From my experience, the real world is pretty much the same: you're more expected to entertain mildly motivated students so they remain as long as possible at an 'intermediate' level rather than teaching anything meaningful, or demanding too much from them (making students study? anathema!). In short: keep that stuff handy but don't get overexcited, you'll probably make more use of it personally than professionally (oh the irony...)

@Tarvos sorry for this further OT polluting of your log
@Rr I think we better go on by private messaging if you want to

Haha, don't mind it, at least it makes this log active when I'm busy being a sad sod.

I think it's not so much that you are unable to pronounce the correct soft sounds, it's that you forget when you should do it. For example, you are perfectly capable of pronouncing the soft t, you do it at the end of verbs like говорить. But when you said грамматика in the video you used the hard t although I presume you know it should have been soft (because it is followed by и). So my advice is to pay more attention to these kind of rules.

Good luck!
