I have also constantly been wondering why Danish words with an 'y' (always vocalic) are transliterated into Russian using an 'ю' - 'ы' would be a better choice (not quite the same sound, but at least not pronouced as 'you').
Or why Чайкoвский is written as Tchaikovsky and not Tchaikovskij in English. Sometimes bad habits just stick. 3 persons have voted this message useful | |||

Sounds like success with the Russian. Congratulations. On a side note - I like the Killers too! (I remember in high school my mom freaked out hearing about them because of their name. Transliteration can be strange though - в is
transliterated v in Dutch but in publications from some years ago it is always w. My dad talked about Wladiwostok not Vladivostok although the correct transliteration is the latter. Note that w is not English w but something between v and English w usually. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |||

A bad habbit of transcription of [h] as г in Russian is not fully eliminated. And why is

That former one makes more sense if you pronounce the letter as in the Ukraine or

I wouldn't say that so quickly, to me the southern Russian г sounds more like h than x
