Haha. That was my effort to super-size Cristina's challenge. Mine is overall for the next three+ years (until I'm 40 in 2015). No more goals beyond what's there.

Six or seven languages is enough. Once I am happy with my abilities in most of those, I might look at more, but no. going. large. on. that... yet.

Now that the challenge is officially underway, does anybody have any books/films in particular that they're
SUPER PSYCHED to get to?

Let's motivate ourselves. :)

I'm really (really!) Looking forward to reading Les Misérables. I love the musical, but I've never read the
translated novel because I wanted to wait to be able to read it in it's original form. I think I'm going to save it
until later in the challenge when my French has improved and I can appreciate it better, but agh, I wanna
read it noooow! *foot stomp*

I realized I have an Old Church Slavonic grammar in Ukrainian, so I'm very excited about reading that one! (Since I have read one entire grammar in Russian and one in French, plus hundreds of pages of OCS grammar from various Ru/No/Eng sources, I figure it won't be that difficult) I'm a bit sad about the first day almost being over and not having done anything for the challenge, but I have a midterm to hand in tomorrow :/

Sorry to get nitpicky, but I'd like to have answers.

For bilingual texts you simply count pages. More than 100 pages counts as one book. Less is half a book.

For children's books one book counts as 1/5th of a book. If that does not seem right, because there is a lot of text, you simply use your best judgement.

And yes, I know I have two consecutive posts, and that is because even though one of the moderators was kind enough to explain how to do multiple quotes, I still can't make that work.

I am creative - don't ask me to be technical as well :-)

OK, thanks. I was going to count children's books as 1/3 a book but 1/5 sounds fair.

I'll still pick up a lot of words in kid's books, I'm sure.
