The Grammaire was a large 300 page book, consisting of exercises and explanations. I probably should've skipped some of the exercises, but I want to cover the language really thoroughly. It finished off with a detailed drilling of the subjunctive.

Sounds more like a big accomplishment to me. Congratulations. :)

Just a very quick update. I'll hopefully get to post a more detailed response in my main TAC '13 log.

I've just passed the half way mark for the time challenge for French.

Study since 1st April 2012

French - 500 hours.
Spanish - 223 hours.
Russian - 10 hours.
Italian - 87 hours.
Irish - 2 hours.

TAC'13 will be lower as it starts from 01/01/2013.

I’ve done it. I’ve reached the 1,000 hours goal for French. At last my supreme challenge is over. Where is my French now? I would estimate I’ve a good B1 speaking ability, and a strong B2 listening and reading comprehension. My speaking ability is underdeveloped due to lack of practice. If I spent some time in a French speaking country it would get a significant boost.

Will I do this again for another language ? I’m not sure. While it really helped my French, I’ve lost some ground in my other target languages. There were a few times where I felt I wasn’t learning much in French, and I should’ve switched for a short while to another language. However, I can’t deny my French is a lot stronger than before, and I’ll spend a bit of effort maintaining it at this level.
