Why no Vietnamese yet?
I can start something, but my English is not of the best sort.
INTRODUCTION
Vietnamese is a language spoken by Vietnamese people, belonging to Mon_Khmer language family.
USEFULNESS
Vietnam is still a poor country, but it has a big population and bright future (according to econimic development)
CHIC FACTOR
Not a lot, unlike CJK, Vietnamese culture is largely unknown outside the country.
It uses Latin script, so some people may assume that it is 'not so hard', and will not be so impressed by you learning it, even if it is not really so easy.
ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE
Not a lot yet.
TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES
VIetnam has a lot to offer cofr tourists, I think.
COUNTRIES
Vietnam, USA, France etc (in Poland VIetnamese are the largst Asian community)
SPEAKERS
81 MLN
VARIATIONS
A lot time has passed since the conquerring of Southern Vietnam by Communist North, but still you will find language resources for both varieties, Northern is more popular however, as it is languge promoted by the government.
There is also Hue dialect, but it is not commonly studied.
CULTURE
A long history.
DIFFICULTIES
GRAMMAR
The VIetnamese grammar is very simple, there is only one irregular verb (to be) that has unexpected negative.

VOCABULARY

TRANSPARENCY
Vietnamese is not close enough to any popular language spoken today, Khmer is said to be related but it's a distant relative.
Knowing some Chinese, however, can prove useful, especially Cantonese, since Vietnamese has borrowed a lot of vocabulary in the past from China.
