So I have started many different logs, but all of them were to specific to really work.
This new log is going to be my last and will include any language work I am doing at the
time. It will basically just be a place for me to right down what I have been doing and
thinking in regards to languages(which is usually a lot). I study lots of languages, I am
not very good at any of them, but I don't really care. I like studying languages maybe
more than actually learning them. I also just like reading about languages and sometimes
I really just want to right down interesting things I read or thought about.

My main focus for the next couple months will be Finnish. I have probably done about 50
hours of Finnish up to this point but I am still really struggling with it.
I have learned the basic declension and conjugation patterns and think I will just focus
on vocab for a while before getting into the more challenging patterns. The balance
between grammar and vocab is always a bit challenging to maintain for me.

Hi! I just wanted to say that I think this log is a really neat idea. I will definitely be reading it. . . . By the way,
are you interested in Navajo? I saw that it was one of the tags. Irish Gaelic is really neat too (not that I know
much about it).

This post was kind of rambling, but oh well. Good luck with your languages! I can relate to enjoying studying
more than actually learning.

Yes I am very interested in Navajo. Have you studied it at all?

No, I haven't. I am interested in Native American languages in general, though, and Navajo sounds really
cool!

Do you have any materials for learning Navajo (or any of the other indigenous American languages, for that
matter)? I have a neat book about Crow that uses incredibly complicated linguistic vocabulary which I don't
understand (yet). I still like reading it, though.

Yeah I have a lot of material for Navajo. If your interested in Native American
languages, I would however suggest Lakota. There is an extremely helpful online community
and much more material than Navajo, despite the lower number of speakers. Also, Lakota is
SIGNIFICANTLY easier.

So are you pretty familiar with the two languages? I saw you wrote something in Lakota the other day.

Are the materials online? If so, I might have found a new summer project.

http://lakotadictionary.org/index.php Everything Lakotan here.
Well, I know hardly any Navajo. I haven't really started to look at it seriously yet.
Lakota on the other hand I read, write and understand pretty well but when it comes to
speaking, I never get any practice and there are significant changes at normal speaking
speed so I am terrible.
