Today I did lessons 47, 48 and the review lesson 79. I couldn't do the exercises or listen to the lesson yesterday, I only read it. So, I decided to finish yday's lesson and do lesson 48, as well as read the review. I do want to finish the book in time. I realized I'm getting used to the non-cognate Norwegian words. I think it's about time I search my bookshelves for some comic books and children's books I got in Norwegian!

So, I've checked my bookshelves and I have two issues of Uncle Scrooge and a booklet of
Disney's Peter Pan. I used to have the tapes to the latter but can't find them. I also
have several magazines. All in all, Peter Pan is quite likely to be my first Norwegian
book, followed closely by the Uncle Scrooge issues.

One more day at which I almost had to skip Norwegian, but luckily I could finish my lesson. I have a doubt regarding the pronunciation of "av": is the v never pronounced, always pronounced or are there diferent cases? What about alltid, is the d always silent?

Ah, I'm often wondering. As I believe you're using Assimil, I'd say it seems to depend on the speakers, but perhaps it's more simply assimilation occurring in faster speech or linking words... I'd love to have someone more experienced or a native comment on this.

I also wanted to say, please continue posting in Norwegian, because I really enjoy reading your posts!

In av I think it depends on the speaker, the dialect, the register (formal vs. informal), the speed and the
sound that follows it. I'm from the North, and I think I pronounce the v in most cases, but often not when followed
by a consonant.

In alltid (and in tid) I never pronounce the d. I don't pronounce it when reading Bokmål or Nynorsk
either. To me it sounds like a hypercorrection when people do pronounce it, but I'm sure a lot of people from
Oslo and Østlandet would disagree.
