I thought it'd be worthwhile to compose a list of all Assimil generations for certain
languages. This list might come in handy for those who believe that the older editions
had more vocabulary and grammar squeezed into them or for those who simply want to
tackle more than one edition at a time. If you think this is reasonable, be so kind and
check your own edition(s), then add it/them to the list.

I'm mainly interested in Russian, French and Hebrew. Here's what I managed to find so
far.

Assimil Russian:
2011 - Russian with ease: 100 lessons (25th: Birthday, 50th: Cunning, 75th: A
superstitious person)
2008 - Russisch ohne Mühe heute: 71 lessons (25th: Welche Pläne haben Sie?, 50th:
Herzlich willkommen!, 71st: Sich kennenzulernen, ist leicht, aber sich zu trennen, ist
schwer)
1973 - Le russe sans peine: 100 lessons (25th: L'argent, 50th: De bonne humeur, 75th:
Lettre de Leningrad)
1951 - Russian without toil: 100 lessons (25th: You like to spend money, 50th: In good
temper, 75th: A waking dream)

Assimil French:
2008 - Französisch ohne Mühe: 113 lessons (25th: Deux histoires droles, 50th: Une
lettre, 75th: Une consultation efficace)
1967 - French without toil: 140 lessons (25th: Qui sont les Duval ?, 50th: En route
pour Paris, 75th: C'est dommage)

Assimil Hebrew:
1982 - L'hébreu sans peine, Tome 1: 63 lessons (25th: Pour mieux voir, 50th: Les lieux
saints)

That's all I could find so far. Let's see if others can add more editions to the list!

I've been trying to find out whether a different generation of Assimil's french courses
exists, to no avail. Would anyone have any information on this? It'd be strange if they
hadn't updated their French cours between 1940 and 1980 (I guess New French with Ease
came out around that time).

There is:

French Without Toil
French With Ease
New French with Ease

Using French
Business French

French from the Word Go (a phrasebook)

Also there was a course called Let's Learn French

French with Ease and New French with Ease are substantially the same course.

So apparently New French with Ease is basically the same as French with Ease with a
couple of additional lessons?

Basically, I'm just surprised about how relatively unchanged the French courses remained
throughout the last decades, compared to the many completely revised Russian courses.

That is probably because French Without Toil is so comprehensive and entertaining...

New French with Eaae is good too. I'd be interested in French Without Toil if the audio was available in mp3 format. It seesm Assimil could increase revenue by just republishing some of the vintage courses with updated audio format.
