Interesting essay by Agatha Christie: Note that it is an essay written by her, not about her. Written some time in the 1930s, and "lost" and found again. I know there are some fans here, and people sometimes use her books for linguistic purposes, just as others use Harry Potter, and others (including myself) use the Scandinavian crime writers. And with good reason, as with books of this type: --The language is not overly complicated, but not too simple either. --They are (or should be) "page-turners", so you keep on reading. --They are fairly widely available and widely translated. --They tell a proper story and offer a mystery or puzzle to be solved, and it seems our desire for these things is fairly deeply ingrained.
