This will be my first time using Assimil, so I'm very excited to join this experiment.

Course: Italian With Ease

Estimated Start Date: November 29th (Trying to minimize interference with the 6
week challenge I already registered for).

Prior experience with this language: None

Any outside resources you might use: Will have access to native speakers on a
weekly basis. Will start listening to their Italian conversations and asking questions
as early as next week.

Why you chose this language: Similarity to Spanish should make it easy in
comparison to my other TLs. I've also been curious about Italian ever since I read
"Eat, Pray, Love", where the author claims it's the most beautiful language because of
how it came to be.

Personal Predictions: At least B1 IF I can stick with Assimil. I normally
prefer Pimsleur as my first intro to a language.

Other languages: Doing the 6WC with Croatian and will continue to study Arabic
at least 8 hours per week during the challenge and back to 12 hours per week after it's
over.

I would like to be a part of this experiment but i don't have a target language as of now. I am studying Italian for more then half a year now already and i've recently started hungarian ( practical reasons not that i was very interested in the language but i need A2-B1 level hungarian before next summer ) therefor i don't want to limit myself to one source for that language.

In Assimil's website the books they have on English base (and i don't have previous experience with) are Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese and Spanish. Guess i'll have to pick one and register :)

Course: Le Polonais Sans Peine (Polish through French)

Estimated Start Date: 1st November

Prior experience with this language: Zero!

Any outside resources you might use: For the purposes of the experiment I'll stick
exclusively to Assimil.

Why you chose this language: I've always been interested in learning a Slavic language
and Polish seems like the natural choice for me as I like the country.

Personal Predictions: Honestly, due to my limited experience with both Assimil and
Slavic languages, I have no idea where I will be at the end of the course. Perhaps A2?
Hard to say.

Note: I've been reading this site for a while but it was this thread which made me sign
up, good luck to everybody!

I would like to give a try with two languages simultaneously

1.Course: Türkisch ohne Mühe

Estimated Start Date: November 3

Prior experience with this language: about 15 hours of study several year ago, including five lessons of Assimil

Any outside resources you might use: a dictionary

Why you chose this language: I would like to visit Turkey next summer and be able to hold a conversation.

Personal Predictions: I don't expect it to be easy, but I hope I will enjoy the experiment and will reach B-1 level as Assimil predicts.

2. Course: Le Grec ancien

Estimated Start Date: November 3

Prior experience with this language: None

Any outside resources you might use: a dictionary

Why you chose this language: I happened to read Plutarch's Lives some time ago... I am also interested in etymology (Greek word!) and the Assimil course contains such nice L'etymologie sans peine sections.

Personal Predictions: this may be just an Assimil experiment or a start of a long relation with the language or a precursor to study of modern Greek. Let's see!

Hi guys!! Can I join??

I would be doing Chinese with Ease (Vol 1 and 2).

That's the state of affairs.

Course: Chinese with Ease vol 1 (at least for now)

Estimated Start Date: I already started 2 days ago. I am in lesson 3.

Prior experience with this language: I've been doing Pimsleur 1 for a while (1.10) and
I know about 250 characters. I've held some little conversations with some Taiwanese
friends. Check my log (Chinese dream).

Any outside resources you might use:
Pimsleur
Fun with characters

Why you chose this language: Because I love it.

Personal Predictions: I hope to finish it before 2013.

Other languages: None. I'll continue to listen and watch English and French movies but
only to maintain my current level.
