I've seen it online;) They may also be selling an e-version legally on the official site, I have no clue.
Although really I'm not sure it's needed with Assimil. Kanewai posted some crazy stuff from an English-based Assimil Spanish here, and to my delight I found that the Italian-based one has the same stuff with translations into Italian. Besides, Assimil is quite light on grammar. It's Pimsleur and MT that may hold your hand too much, thinking you're new to Romance languages. Especially Pimsleur (though it's good for the pronunciation, so you may want to do some lessons anyway). For any popular language, there are many free sites for learning online. Just run a google search and see what appeals to you. And try out the resources I mentioned, they're all free.
