Just when I thought I was doing well....
I've been good with doing my Assimil lessons this week and they don't seem too bad (today was 59) but...I've been sucking at the active stage. Today I did lesson 10 and I keep making really dumb mistakes, completely forgetting words (plates, dish washer). The last few active lessons have been terrible and I keep wondering why I'm not remembering them. Anyone else have trouble with the active stage? 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Est-ce que vous relisez et réécoutez la leçon avant vous traduisez l'anglais ? Comme ça c'est beaucoup plus facile !
Des fois j'ai oublié des mots aussi. Mais ne vous en faites pas ! En mon avis la grammaire est la chose la plus importante et en plus certains de ces mots ne sont pas très utile (par exemple, je n'ai jamais utilisé "lave-vaiselle" dans une conversation avec un francophone). No, I just look at the English and try to write the French out in my notebook.

Hmmm, studies have taken a back seat to work over the last week again, just not enough
hours in the day. I've followed tastyonions's advice and have started listening to the audio track when I'm doing the active stage. Makes it so much easier to comprehend, though I still try to write out as much as I can before listening. Still don't think I'm progressing very fast except for my reading skills which seem to be OK so far. Maybe it's time to find some French speakers to speak to in Seoul. Also tried a lang-8 post. Wow, been such a long time since I've updated this.
I've only done 11 lessons in NFWE in 3 weeks. I feel ashamed with my lack of effort recently. Assimil - lesson 71 kicks off today. Really struggled remembering the names for body parts - fingers, ankles, elbows, chin etc. when I tried to type out the lesson a day after studying it. I keep wondering if I'm studying properly or not. I think I need to look more closely at the words and try to memorize them. The active wave is going ok, though I find that before listening to the CD I'll write out a certain way to say something and then find the CD says effectively the same thing, but in a completely different manner. Also struggling with hearing de/du properly and some other little words. Grammaire Debutant - lesson 11 finished. I like this book, each lesson is short and sweet though I sometimes make stupid mistakes with words I don't know. Linguaphone - Unit 6 finished and half of 7. It's certainly more interesting that Pimsleur but not sure if it is as effective. An awful lot of wasted time with jingles and too much English. I shall persevere though. I've started to read Le Petit Nicholas. Still on the first few pages but it's much easier than Le Petit Prince. I still need to reach for a dictionary every few words but it's not too bad to get the general gist of things. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

NFWE active wave is killing me.
I just finished lessons 22-24 after a bit of a backlog and 22 was definitely the hardest so far. Keep making really stupid mistakes like missing plurals, messing up conjugations and certain small words are passing me by when I'm listening to the CD.
