Outcast, stelingo kind of brings up a point. Where in the US are you? When I lived in
California TV Globo was offered "a la carte" on my Dish set up. It's also offered in Chicago through my cable provider (RCN), although it's more expensive than Dish was. Bizarrely enough, Globo seem to have many full episodes for free in their international website, with subtitles!

hrhenry, I have DTV. I will have to check on that, but I'm sure it won't be "cheap". I may consider it though, if all other options are exhausted. I am trying to learn on s small a budget as possible. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I agree that it is very sad that it is so difficult to get Brazilian TV outside of Brazil. It is hard to even find news clips that I can watch outside of Brazil.

You may attempt to stream Portuguese TV station SIC, which airs a couple of Brazilian soaps/telenovelas after 11pm (PT time).
Can't give you any personal opinion, but I've heard very good things about 'Avenida Brasil' currently aired there. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

I should point out I do watch some clips from RTP btw. While for practical purposes (living in the American continent in a city with huge Brazilian presence), I need to be more familiar with the Brazilian dialect, I'm starting to tune more with EP material. It is a nice change from the Brazilian accent and it certainly doesn't hurt my vocabulary. If anyone likes soap operas, the most recent one "Avenida Brasil" was the best in a loooooong time! Excelent acting, "cinematography", very good plot.

I realise now you can actually watch full episodes (divided into smaller clips) of Brazilian shows on SIC's website
There you'll also find some Portuguese shows. RTP also has a show specific for the language, named Cuidado com a língua Finally, there's Ilha dos Amores, considered one of the best Portuguese soap operas, all of its episodes seem to be available on Youtube. 1 person has voted this message useful |
