And yet, you're a Senior Member with only one trophy? I must be missing something.


I'm a senior member because of the number of posts I have. I have one trophy because of the number of my posts that have been voted "useful." If there's a seemingly disparate ratio between these two stats markers, it is because the majority of my posts are not seen as/voted as useful, in which case I would have more trophies.

I am leaving team Slavic/Romance to take leadership of team Romance #1. Spanky will be co-leader until Februaryish.

I’m hoping that I will also find time to actually study languages next year :-)

"Senior Member" follows "Groupie"

The votes determine how many trophies that you get after your name (I think that it's the first trophy comes after 50 votes, second after 100 (or 150?), third after 500 and fourth after 1000. I don't know how many votes are needed to become an "ace" in trophies by getting the fifth one). These might also determine somehow the percentage for popularity in threads that you start. I've noticed that when I start threads (e.g. in Collaborative Writing) even when there are no replies and only seen a couple of hundred times, they get 20% popularity within a few days. In comparison, other senior members (but with fewer votes or less time on the forum) do not get that seemingly instant boost of 20% popularity on their threads without a lot of replies or votes in a short time.
I think the second is 250 votes.

The Japanese team has chosen Team Sakura 桜 (sakura sakura) as its name, allowing for a nice compromise between those non Japanese speakers who want to know how to pronounce the name, and those kanji-fans who want a pretty character. Sakura sakura is also coincidentally the name of our team song.
