Added to Romance #3
Please don’t bother making a team thread yet as the members of the French, Spanish and Romance#3 teams will most likely be moved over to the other Romance teams if these teams don’t attract enough members. I am just waiting until the end of the year since there are probably a number of people sitting on the fence waiting until the last minute to decide if they want to join the TAC. (See my quote below.)

To primosanchez and others on small “second teams:” If your team doesn’t attract enough members, you will be moved into the original team on 31 Dec. Teams that might be absorbed into other teams included Romance#3/French/Spanish, Asian#2, Scandinavian#2, German#2, and possibly some others I’ve forgotten. So just wait a couple more days in case there is a big rush to sign up right before the New Year. I’m sorry for the wait, but last time there were people being turned away because of overfilled teams, so I want to give them as much chance as possible.

How much members is "enough"? If we combine the three we would have 7, as it stands.

Actually, only 5 or 6. Anya is already on team PAX and it's unclear whether primosanchez would still like to be on the team. Hopefully a few more people join in the next few days.

Updates for Brun Ugle:

DarrenDaka has joined the Polish Team.

I noticed that in the list of Teams (post no.2), you have called us Team 'Bisons'.
Actually we are Team Żubr, and 'bisons' is just our nickname.
Could you amend our title please?

Dziękuję!

If I can help in any way the greek learning teams, just tell me what to do. I will be more than happy.

I would like to take part in the TAC 2013, but there doesn't seem to be a team doing Asian languages like Thai,
Indonesian, Lao, Khmer or Burmese. I don't understand how TAC is supposed to work if you're not on a team, since
the fun and motivation to carry on seems to come from the team. Is there the possibility to form a team
grouping intermediate-advanced learners of rarer (or not so rare) languages together? Learners who are
intermediate to advanced don't necessarily need specific support for their target language, but might benefit from
the ideas and activities of other intermediate-advanced learners.

Hello Bakunin,

it looks like iawia is going to join the Asian team with Thai (among others) and yuhakko hinted that he will start studying Indonesian, so I'd say that you're welcome to join us as well if you like. As most people will be studying Chinese and Korean these will probably be the focus languages of most team activities, but the planned challenges can be completed in any language.

Another possibility would be to try and get as many people who are studying rarer Asian languages together to form a new team, but it might be a little late for that.

Thanks, druckfehler, for the invitation. Let's see what Brun Ugle has to say to the idea of forming a team of
intermediate-advanced lonely souls. If that doesn't work out, I might join your team. Still a few hours left to decide
:)

However, I think there's a tremendous cultural gap between SEA and NEA, and there are significant challenges to
NEA languages related to the writing systems (with the exception of Korean) which are no issue in SEA languages,
so that pairing Thai with Chinese might be as useful as paring Chinese with Uyghur. Sure, there both Asian, and
there are some influences back and forth, but they're very different beasts. But I don't want to come across as
defensive... so let me see whether Brun Ugle comes back before I decide. In any case I wish the (NE-)Asian Team a
great TAC2013!

Update

Tastyonions:
Fixed link

Skuld:
Added to individual TAC. If you want to be on a team, you should decide right away.

Żubr:
Fixed name.

DarrenDaka:
Added to Żubr

renaissancemedi:
Added to German#2 and Individual for French

Bakunin:
There is actually one other member of the Asian team studying Thai. We don’t happen to have a rare languages team this year and I think it might be a little late to start one. Next year we should try to create such a team right from the beginning. If you really want to start a team, the only thing I can suggest is to do like Chung does and actively recruit people, but as far as I can tell, there aren’t many people studying Thai. If you can find some people who want to start a South East Asian team or a Rare Languages team with you, then go for it. It’s no trouble for me to add a new team to the list. I know SomeGuy is interested in Vietnamese, so that could be a start.

SMALL TEAMS
I have just sent PM’s to the leaders of 鶴, MIR, Schnitzel, Viking, and Pax regarding taking up the members on secondary/tertiary teams that are too small to be fairly certain of survival. I’ve asked them for their approval on this matter and should they agree, to inform those people it affects. Most of those teams are currently discussing the matter.

Regarding Romance#3/French/Spanish: Anya and Spanky are already on other Romance teams and can stay there. And I can probably squeeze up to 8 people onto the other two teams. Some of you were on other teams before and can go back; let me know which team and you can go back if you wish. Otherwise, it looks like I could squeeze in about 3 on Pax and 5 on Romulan, pending approval from Pax of course. I will send PM’s to the people on Romance#3/French/Spanish to ask their wishes.
