I'd also like Serpent as team lead. Just checked the poll and the current leader is Lud, followed by Nebunie. By the way, is the second n in Nebunie palatalized ? I don't know Romanian, but that pronunciation seems natural.

Well, who exactly prefers Lud to Nebunie and what don't you like about the latter? There's also nebun the adjective/noun. the noun's plural is nebuni. WHAT are the options meant by 'other'? please tell me, please tell me, please tell me! I'm sorry but I insist. It won't be Lud. As much as I love the Croatian language. As much as I love this song. It HAS to be Romance AND Slavic. As much as I dislike French I prefer bistro to Lud. (geeky note: that's not the French for fast. the meaning is the same as in English and in modern Russian.) I already messed up last year because in 2011 all team names were one letter (team Å, team Ж and whatnot), so I came up with the current name which would've looked great among one-letter names but not among normal legit names ;_; However even that less than ideal name was both Slavic and Romance. But I'm only insisting on one thing. The name shouldn't be ONLY Slavic or especially only Romance. I'm not insisting on any particular name. New suggestions are still welcome:) edit: oh:(((( turns out bistro is just a folk etymology:( i'm disappointed, i've heard this one here as well! To cover different groups of languages, why not check out an etymological dictionary? I had the same thinking for *jäŋe / *ledús ("ice" reconstructed for Proto-Finno-Ugric and Proto-Balto-Slavonic based on extant words in modern languages e.g. jää in Estonian and Finnish, jég in Hungarian; ledus in Latvian, lód in Polish.
A couple of possibilities: (j)utro "morning, dawn; tomorrow" (various Slavonic languages) aurora, aurōra "morning, dawn, sunrise" (Latin and various Romance languages) (source) (j)ezik, jazyk etc. "language; tongue" (various Slavonic languages) lingua, langue, limbă etc. "language; tongue" (Latin and Romance languages) (source) 2 persons have voted this message useful | |||||||||

I'm not asking you, I'm asking lud ie folk :D
We can totally have prieteni or nebunie... i just don't want anyone to be stuck with a team name they don't like. BTW Alastor Moody's Romanian nickname is Ochi-Nebun :) 1 person has voted this message useful |
