You just got my wires crossed :-) Are you studying Norwegian and Danish? The general tasks are: keep a log, read the logs of the others, give lots of encouragement. I suppose having you on the team would be extremely beneficial to these who study Swedish. Hello everybody :)
This is my first TAC but I've been following some of this year's logs so I think that I get the idea. I'll start my Scandinavian/Celtic log after Christmas. Team Viking sounds powerful, I like it very much. You guys could have a lot of fun with the team's name. There's bound to be something suitable or irreverant from Norse mythology or even some likeable lampoon of Scandinavia (Hägar the Horrible?)

Ginnungagap Vikings? According to wikipedia one of the meanings of Ginnungagap is "magical (and creative) power-filled space". Chung, you got me inspired. :)

Perhaps I should join the team - with Swedish. I have actually spoken quite a lot of "Swedish" in my time with a Swedish colleague. He would speak "Norwegian" to me and I would speak "Swedish" to him, and then we would laugh so hard we would almost fall over. 2 persons have voted this message useful | ||||||

@jeff_lindqvist, welcome aboard! Should I then write 'Norwegian and Danish' next to
your name in the beginning of the thread? :) And I've got a question about the "nja" expression - how is it exactly used, what does it mean? Is it something like German 'jein'?
This sounds a lot like a couple of conversations I had with Slovaks ;). If you want to join the team with Swedish, you're of course more than welcome! I am contemplating joining this team as I am presently studying Norwegian.
However, I am a beginner have just started learning about 4 or 5 weeks ago. Do I need to be at a certain level to join? My motivation is very high as I will be spending about 6 weeks in Norway this summer and possibly work there periodically in the future (5 to 12 weeks a year). Another motivator is my wife. She grew up in Sweden where we visit regularly. In the past, I promised her I would learn Swedish after I conquered Russian. Though I never conquered Russian (not even close), learning Norwegian seems like an partial fulfillment of my promise. I would love to be with my wife and her Swedish friends without their feeling the need to always switch into English. God willing, my (future) Norwegian will help me understand SOME of the Swedish be spoken around me. So as far as I understand, the expectation of being part of the team is to study proactively and post progress regularly, correct? 1 person has voted this message useful |
