First of all, it would be nice to know, if those who are still thinking about whether to
become a Viking or not (Jonhello + limey75, both w/Norwegian) have made a decision. Team
#1 has 15 members, Team #2 6 members so far. If Jonhello and limey75 join Team #2, they
will have 8 members there, IMHO enough to "survive".

If there are no other people joining Team #2 by the end of the week, I would suggest to
merge both teams.

Multiple Scandinavian languages seem to help each other more than they interfere. Interference doesn't matter much for your passive skills (except false friends, but there aren't that many) and I am able to separate them more or less by accent for active skills. When I write Danish, I hear a Danish accent in my head (and for speaking it's obvious), which helps me to separate expressions and spelling from Norwegian, which I write without hearing the words in my head (probably a product of different learning strategies). And then there are spell checkers :)
Swedish is a bit more different, so you should get even less interference.

1: You must use the simple past tense because you have specified the time, and you are outside that timeframe (august).

I still feel a bit hesitant about correcting people's mistakes here, as I do not know how you feel about being corrected in public. I would however mention things that seem to be rather common. One mistake which seems to be common even among native Norwegian speakers, is the use of captal letters.

x - Cultural note. Norway is a small country with a huge inferiority complex (a number of foreigners asking if Norway is the capital of Sweden and who think Liv Ullmann is Swedish does that to you). We therefore get extatic whenever anyone shows interest in us, by visiting the country often or by talking nicely about us, and we immediately proclaim that they are a "norgesvenn". Particularly if it is someone famous:-)

SECOND VIKING CHALLENGE

Write 3 sentences where you try to use as many of the words which in English are spelled with capital letters, and in Norwegian (and as far as I know also Swedish and Danish) are spelled with regular letters as possible.

Hi,

I'm not on the team but I'm starting to work with Assimil Norwegian and I thought this thread would be a good place to ask my question. I'm looking for an online Norwegian-English dictionary with pronunciation. I did some google search but to no avail. Has anyone found such a thing? I would appreciate any suggestions.
