To my delight, the pun in this cartoon seems to work in both English and French! And possibly even Spanish,
Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian? Can someone else confirm that? (And perhaps like to translate it?) A pun which works in all our target Romance languages would be pretty sweet.

Le boulet de canon humain.

Il a raté le filet!
Tellement tragique!
Nous ne trouverons jamais une autre personne de son calibre.

It also works in Portuguese and that would be:

"Ele errou a rede!
Que tragédia!
Jamais encontraremos outra pessoa de seu calibre."

It's very basic but I just found it on the internet and managed to get it without
trouble (except a few new words):

and:

Monsieur et Madame Ouzzi ont un fils... Il s'appelle Jacques!

Thanks, Flarioca - I'd never have known that "jamais" was a Portuguese word too!

I love wordplay and puns! Now, this one would work in English too, but not - despite "Jacuzzi" itself being
an Italian surname, in Italian.

You're welcome. However, be aware that the pronunciation of "jamais" in Portuguese is quite different from the French one. In Portuguese (Carioca accent) that would be [ʒamai̯ʃ]. The /ai/ is a diphthong.

For jokes, I just discovered Blackpoules, which is a good laugh. Most of the jokes would work in any language, but this one's based on a well-known French proverb, "when hens have teeth", which is similar to our "when pigs fly":

I've just discovered that Vie de merde, which Emk's mentioned
on the forums, has Italian and two Spanish versions:

Vita di merda

Asco de vida
Vaya mierda de vida

I wonder, do Spanish speakers (with their two sites vs. one for French and Italian) have more
humorously fraught lives?

I realize I haven't written much in my log lately or been reading the logs of other team members. Sorry for that! Been really busy with school.

Still managed to get a good amount of French practice in, though. I have a conversation or two nearly every day on Skype or Verbling, and often listen to the radio while doing schoolwork, too.

I'm a big fan of Asterix and the following image is among my preferred sequences. I think that it doesn't require a translation :-))

There are many other language related jokes in Asterix, like this one I've used on another thread.

EDIT: I often feel myself like Obelix in this image, while trying to learn a new language. Even worse, indeed.
