I am very impressed by the following video of top tennis player Roger Federer from Switzerland in which he demonstrates his ability of language switching between French, English and Swiss-German.

I've seen it some time ago. It's really motivating. We should mention that the journalist also speaks those languages. But Roger was brought up in a bilingual environment and growing up in Switzerland French must have been compulsory, so it's no surprise he knows those three languages. Still, he'd be a great ambassador for multilingualism. Someone invite him to the conference in Budapeszt! ;)

Basel German is the least ''Swiss'' of all German dialects in Switzerland.
In fact, the Basel area is an island surrounded by dialects which differ quite markedly from the Basel dialect.
Some say, the old German dialect of Strasbourg is the closest dialect to Basel German.

Better than Andy Murray, who spent a couple of years in Barcelona as a teenager but cannot say anything in Spanish.
