This will be my log for TAC 2013 Czech.
I am learning czech for around 2 years now. As it is my first language which I am learning on my own in my home country it took a litte bit longer to go on but I am happy that I stuck with it until now. I started off with Assimil Tschechisch and used it with various methods (shadowing, scriptorium, translate - retranslate etc.) When I finished I tried to go on with books (Harry Potter and The Alchemist) but failed as the books where to difficult and I hadn't reached by far the level B2 as stated on the Assimil book :) Also my comprehension of texts and listening was also very limited. In the Internet unfortunately it is hard to find big ressources for czech learners for immersion. So at the moment I am stuck with Lingq und using it daily. My goals for 2013 are that I can read/listen/understand better (B2) and focus more on conversation. Writing for me is not so important. I also want to refresh my Spanish this year so another goal for me is to maintain both languages and easily switch between these. I'm looking forward to reading your log. Is there any special reason why you decided to learn Czech?

I always was interested in languages but had some half-hearted starts. Spanish I learned in Spain (Erasmus). But I think why I really started czech was because I wanted to see if I can learn a language from scratch. My mother comes from czech republic and still knows a little bit czech so this language for me was the most suitable.
Then initial ambition turned into fun learning and so I stuck with it. :) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I wish you much luch with czech! I am still a beginner so I will be quite eager to read about other people's progress here. I also started out with Assimil, but then I had the feeling I needed something to give me a bit of a base in the grammar as well.

There are plenty of audio resources on Radio Praha which come with a transcript. Radio Praha
