Norman Schwarzkopf, the US Army General who liberated Kuwait in the 1991 Persian Gulf War, spoke conversational German and French throughout his life, according to his obituary in the Washington Post. As the son of a general he lived in several countries as a kid including Iran, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.
