Hej,
jag har en fråga om tidsprepositioner:
Uppgift är:
Studenterna läste in tentan [...] ett par dagar.
Jag är inte verkligen säkert vad det menar. Jag tror att det betyder:
A few days ago students had a test.
Lösning säger att prepositioner är på, om eller i, men jag inte förstå varför.
Kan du hjälpa mig?

It's rather "The students studied (=crammed) the material for the exam in a couple of days".

"läsa in" - the added (and don't forget stressed) preposition/particle suggests that the information you read really sticks, so "läste in" means that they in some way "finished" their studies, that they read all the books, possibly back to back. Another example: "Han läste in hela kursen på en månad." He managed to cram the whole course in a month.

In this case, "tentan" (in combination with the particle verb "läsa in") refers to the content rather than the actual test/exam.

And now the missing preposition: på. Use "på" for (completed) time expressions like "He finished the book in two hours". ("på två timmar")

Your suggestion "a few days ago" (=time expression.. ago) doesn't look like this in Swedish.

Oops, I just saw that I've replied in English...

Thanks!
Knowing the correct meaning of the sentence indeed helps. =)
