Indeed it's true! I keep correcting those mistakes in my students' essays! The ones you mention and so many
more ( I have 15 years old ...Ugh!)

Eye-opening and interesting. Well-done! I don't suppose anyone has done something like this in the opposite
direction (English->French) in a comparable way?

No, I should have put it between inverted commas, that's what my students say instead of "I am 15" ;)
