some cool expressions you're learning there:))))) i assume you know that the "main" word for die is умереть/умирать? it can be used interchangeably with подыхать, though I suppose the more neutral words are used about your own suffering while подыхать is more likely in the third person, to laugh at someone else. (or at someone's perception of yourself, like "он думает, что я тут подыхаю от ревности") строчить can have various meanings but all with a sense of 'enhancement'. writing a lot, writing fast, even writing 'sharply' (as in строчить эпиграммы). i wouldn't say it necessarily implies poor quality of the writing (not with the last example for sure), but this is quite common. like if you're annoyed by popular writers who write very fast but basically just copy themselves. my association with this word is all about hitting the keys on a typing machine quickly and loudly. it's used a lot by angry parents whose teenage kids chat on the internet:) as for ранец, another common word is портфель. it can also mean a businessman's case. and then there's рюкзак, which is the general word for backpack and can mean anything from a small girly one to a huge one for a camping trip. i'd say ранец is used to indicate the purpose while the others are used to indicate the shape/appearance. although colloquially all of these can be interchangeable at least in school kids' speech. sorry if i'm telling you obvious things :P you seem so advanced! can't wait to hear a recording from you!
