I'm looking for Spanish TV shows I can download/watch online. I'm open to any genre as long as it's aimed at a mixed or female audience. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :)

Check out the website of RTVE, this link takes you to their "a la carta" selection of programmes you can watch online. Click on the "series" button and you will get up a list of series you can watch.

My wife liked the series "Isabel" a lot. It is the story of how Isabel la Católica became queen of Castilla - if you like historical series, it can be recommended.

Cuéntame cómo pasó is one of the longest-running series on Spanish TV and one of RTVE's biggest successes. It is in its 14th season, and it seems practically all seasons and episodes are online.

Finally, La Señora is another of my wife's favourites, its set in Spain in the 1920s.

I leave it to you to explore the rest of the site.

Do you know if they have any shows with subtitles? I've tried a few series, but couldn't find any.

They don't have any shows with subtitles, to the best of my knowledge.

This is awesome! Thank you so much for that link! I've watched 20 minutes of "Isabel" and I can already tell I'll be spending a lot of time with that series. Unfortunately I'll have to watch it in small installments, because it takes a lot of focus, but I suspect I'll improve quickly watching this. Quality stuff.

I just got a subscription to Hulu. They have lots of
Mexican telenovelas with subtitles, and it's available in Japan. Shows I've checked
out are:

La Fea más Bella (The Prettiest Ugly Girl) - A romantic comedy about a "fea" who
takes a job as a secretary to the president of a modeling agency. It's been fun to
watch, and some of the actors have great comic timing. This is the one I'm watching
now.

Soy tu dueña (I am your master) - A steamy soap. I only watched the first
episode, but I'll come back to it. From wikipedia:

Valentina Villalba (Lucero) is a beautiful woman with a fortune that she inherited
from her parents. She has a mansion in Mexico City, where she lives with her aunt
Isabel Dorantes (Silvia Pinal) and her cousin Ivana (Gabriela Spanic). Valentina is
engaged to Alonso (David Zepeda), but she doesn't know that Alonso is cheating on her
with Ivana. Ivana has an additional lover, Oscar Ampudia (Claudio Baez), who is
married. Ivana runs over Oscar with his car. Alonso stands up Valentina at their
wedding. He has planned to run away with Ivana, but he ends up taking a different life.

Abismo de Pasión More steamy drama. The title probably clued you into that, and
if not the promo shot probably should ...

I'd say that's aimed at a mixed or female audience!

OK, one more that I just started, and so far it's excellent!

La Reina del Sur - this was made by Telemundo (USA), and it was the most
expensive, and most successful, telenovela yet. It's from the novel by Arturo Pérez-
Reverte, and tells the story of a Mexican narco's girlfriend who becomes an
international trafficker after he's murdered.

You can watch most of the episodes with English subtitles online at:
mun2.

Most, but strangely, not all.   The rest are on YouTube, but without subtitles. And you
have to hunt around to get the episodes. I made a playlist with all the parts of the
first five episodes ... this should be public if I did it right:

La Reina del Sur playlist

It's pretty easy to follow the general plot without subtitles ... at least so far.
