Surely if Destinos are boring, Pimsleur is a lot more boring?
IDK, I loved Destinos. Download it in Uzbekistan and give it a try:)

I certainly didn't find the Destinos videos scintillating as far as entertainment value
and they do lay on some cheese, but in the category of language-learning series
they're more interesting than many (and CERTAINLY more than Pimsleur.) And I think
they're effective to gain greater familiarity with and comprehension of the spoken
language. But the OP may be at a level where he could manage that with real
telenovelas.
Destinos was required in the introductory and intermediate (101, 102, 201 and 202)
Spanish courses I took- the text and workbooks as well. They're quite good, I think. I
wouldn't hesitate to recommend the whole program for self-study either, but it requires
a considerable investment of time (more than most non-students have,) and I think the
OP only needs a comprehensive review.

TBH I didn't just find it boring, I also found it very irritating as I felt it seemed
to reflect a certain worldview that I personally find unpleasant (tbf most telenovelas
are worse for that, but usually they find a way to get you to care for at
least one or two of the characters- Destinos never managed that with me). I seem to be
in the minority, though.
I agree, nothing to be lost by trying them out for yourself in Uzbekistan.
A lot of experienced language learners seem to find Pimsleur boring, maybe I will when
I reach that level of experience. For now it doesn't strike me as that boring.
At any rate, there are much better options for Spanish.

From his self-description, it certainly sounds like it to me.

Also, given the OP's comments elsewhere, a translation-based course might be a bad idea. And that's where Destinos has an advantage. For me it was a great way to review and solidify the basics.
